What an Official Visit Actually Looks Like

July 6, 2026

An official visit is a job interview disguised as a weekend trip. The school pays for your travel, food, and lodging. In exchange, they want to see if you fit. Not just as a player. As a person. The coaches are evaluating you the whole time.

You will tour the campus, meet the team, attend a practice or game, and sit down with academic advisors. You will eat meals with current players. Those meals matter more than you think. Coaches ask players later what they thought of you. If you were rude to the wait staff or spent the whole meal on your phone, they will hear about it.

Ask real questions. What is the team culture like on road trips? How does the coach handle playing time decisions? What does a typical week look like during the season? The answers tell you more than any brochure. And remember, you are choosing them as much as they are choosing you.
