How to Prepare for an ID Camp

July 7, 2026

An ID camp is not a training session. It is an evaluation. The coaches are not there to teach you. They are there to decide if you belong on their roster. Most players treat it like a regular practice and blend in. The ones who stand out do three things differently.

First, they arrive prepared. That means rested, hydrated, and carrying their own ball. Coaches notice the player who walks in organized versus the one scrambling for a pump. Second, they communicate. Call for the ball. Talk on defense. Ask a coach a question during a water break. Silence looks like disinterest. Third, they play simple. Do not try five stepovers in a 30-minute scrimmage. Make the right pass, move to space, defend with intent. Coaches trust players who make the game look easy.

Send a follow-up email to the coaching staff within 48 hours. Short, grateful, and direct. It keeps your name in their head when they start building their list.
